Managing Projects for Team Leaders

Please review the following pre-work and special instructions in preparation for your upcoming class.

Managing Projects for Team Leaders

Thank you for participating in Managing Projects for Team Leaders, an interactive learning experience on the skills and techniques for effectively managing projects.

To get the most value from the training, please identify a project you are about to start or already working on and bring it with you.  The project should be sufficiently challenging to require some thinking on your part, but not so large you cannot tackle it within the a one-day training.  Some guidelines are as follows:

  • At least 10 steps in the action plan, but not more than 30.
  • At least one month in duration, but not more than six months.

You may identify your own project or work with others on a group project.

Project management skills will become increasingly important because:

  • Organizations are re-engineering their internal processes and eliminating, automating or outsourcing routine tasks.  Most of us will be spending more of our time doing non-routine, project-oriented work.
  • To ensure our future competitiveness, we must satisfy our customers better, faster and more cost-effectively than in the past.

Managing Projects for Team Leaders will provide you with the technical skills to initiate, plan, execute, and close projects successfully, on time, within budget, and to customer expectations.  We hope you find the training beneficial!
