It is generally acceptable for an employee to provide a notice period when they submit their resignation, commonly a two-week notice period, but the time frame can vary. While the ability to have the employee transition their work and provide some training to their successor may be beneficial in most circumstances, there may be situations where an employer would rather not have the employee remain during the notice period.
