In 2025, Executive Order 11246, “Equal Employment Opportunity,” which generally prohibited federal contractors from engaging in certain employment discrimination, was revoked. Immediately following, Executive Order 14173, entitled "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity was signed.
The use of the self identification forms for race/ethnicity/veteran status and disability is still compliant with OFCCP and VEVRAA requirements. There is a recent recommendation from the EEOC to the Trump Administration to discontinue EEO-1 reporting; however, that has not yet been decided. While this is being determined, employers required to do EEO-1 reporting should continue to track applicants and existing employees.
