Understanding Minnesota Legislative Changes Impacting Employers

MRA is partnering with Littler to provide updates on leave laws, cannabis testing, pay transparency, and other legislative changes in MN. Kurt Erickson is a shareholder and attorney with Littler with significant experience representing public and private employers in labor and employment matters. He appears regularly before state and federal courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Minnesota Department of Human Rights, as well as proceedings before other state administrative tribunals.
Kurt will provide a general overview of recent amendments in Minnesota law impacting employers and an update on additional changes that will be in place in 2025. Topics include the MN paid family leave, MN earned sick and safe time benefit, changes for Secure 2.0 Act, cannabis and other drug testing, pay transparency laws, the MN Department of Human Rights Enforcement, and more.

- Learn what is covered and employer obligations under the MN Paid Family Medical Leave Act.
- Prepare to uphold the MN Earned Sick and Safe Time Act, including 2024 amendments and 2025 changes.
- Understand Secure 2.0 Act changes for 2025 and their impact on retirement plans.
- Review Restrictive Covenants and the status of federal and Minnesota-specific regulations and restrictions.
- Navigate Cannabis and drug testing policies to be compliant with current MN laws and regulations.
- Prepare for MN Pay Transparency Laws going into effect in 2025.
- Understand changes to the MN Department of Human Rights’ laws and enforcement.

It will give you practical skills and insights on how to use change as a catalyst to experience more and do more at work and at home. Participants will learn about personal resilience, helping others during transition, how to manage overload with pace, powerful communication skills, and the importance of vision, making key decisions and much more.
